Dear Friends:

I am excited to finally announce to you our new MEMBERS area for Please Stop the Rollercoaster! group members. This special area of the website has been designed so you can download a special "tips" sheet to go with each chapter of the book, as well as to direct you to additional articles and resources. It is free; I hope you will let your fellow group members know about it.

Teens and technology seems to be the issue of the day and I have lots of information for parents on this. Read on and enjoy!
My best,

Sue Blaney

Parenting Plugged-in Teens

Few will argue that our communication landscape has changed fundamentally in the past five years, and in many families there is a disconnect between parents and kids - if for no other reason than they are "digital natives" and we are not. Bridging this gap is a priority for educators, parents and anyone else concerned about our families and our future. This has been the topic for several articles over the past few weeks.

New "Rollercoaster" Members Area
For those of you who are currently, or have in the past been in "Please Stop the Rollercoaster" discussion groups, I invite you to join our new free Members area. To facilitate your ability to maximize your discussions and stay current on these important topics, the Members Area provides additional articles, links, resources and downloadable tips organized by topic and matching up to the chapters in Please Stop the Rollercoaster. It is easy; it is free; and please pass this opportunity along to everyone in your discussion group.

How Do You Define Success?
How would your teenager's experience be different if, rather than focusing on grades, achievements and rewards, s/he were to focus on "being a contribution?" Is there a linkage between today's high rates of anxiety and depression among teens with the values and rewards that we teach?   Food for thought
