Great after-school program

January 23rd, 2007 by Sue Blaney

I met a dynamic woman today who runs an after-school program for middle school students in Natick, MA. Deb Sayre looked out her window a few years ago and said “These kids have no place to go!” Single-handedly she contacted civic and business leaders in Natick, MA and raised enough funds to create Kids Connect. This non-profit offers after-school care and tutoring, and is inspirational in many ways. Visit her website at www.kids-connect.org and read about the importance of after-school care for teenagers in the article just posted on my website: The WHY’s and WHERE’s of After School Care; It’s 3:30 pm, Do You Know Where Your Teenager Is? http://www.pleasestoptherollercoaster.com/articles/after-school-care-for-teens.html

Do you know of any particularly effective or successful after-school programs for teenagers that others can learn from? If so, let us know and we’ll post it here.
