Teens’ Public Humiliation: Is This the Best Way to Parent Teenagers?

Can you think of a better way to handle this situation? An Oklahoma mother of a 14 year old daughter was tired of the daughter’s poor grades, poor attitude and lack of respect. So she made her daughter stand outside at a busy intersection holding a sign reading: “I don’t do my homework, and I act up in school, so my parents are preparing me for my future.Will Work for Food.” Incredible as it seems, the photo and story was picked up and distributed by the AP wire, so the public humiliation of Coretha Henderson is now extended nationally.
